This is a very strange banjo. The rim is 1925 Gibson (FON 8172) with a ball bearing tone ring. The metal parts have been replated, and the armrest and tailpiece are modern. The resonator is obviously not original, and is attached by two thumb screws. As you can see in the pics, engraved metal bands have been placed around the tension hoop, tone ring, and resonator. The neck is of unknown manufacture. It has Gotoh tuners. There is virtually no fret wear on the rosewood fingerboard. If you are looking a real bargain banjo, this might just be it.
