F.O.N. 9486-64. This amazing banjo started its life as a TB-1 and was made in 1929 by Gibson at the Kalamazoo Michigan factory. It features a one piece flange design that has one small break in it by the tailpiece (see photo) and has never been cut for a tone ring, making it a super lightweight Pre War Gibson Banjo with a HUGE SOUND; It is one of the very best sounding and playing non-tone ring Pre War Gibson banjos to ever come through the shop! The rim is considered a fat rim, as its just a hair wider than the regular size rims of this era.
It has a really nice Frank Neat neck on it and is is professional setup with a Tim Davis bridge. If you're looking for lightweight Pre War Gibson with lots of projection, volume, and great tone, this might be one to consider.
