Stelling Staghorn Alan Munde Model

This is a rare and collectible 1996 Stelling Alan Munde Model Staghorn, one of only 10 ever made — and this is the final one in the run (#10 of 10). Built by Geoff Stelling during the mid-’90s, this model honors legendary banjoist Alan Munde, whose signature appears beautifully inlaid at the 17th fret. One Owner!

Highlights & Specs

  • Serial #: 4440-10 (10th and last of the Alan Munde series)
  • Year: 1996 (per Stelling’s production chronology)
  • Tonewood: Figured Canadian birch
  • Finish: Natural with raised Staghorn logo on resonator
  • Inlay: Alan Munde signature at 17th fret
  • Hardware: Black chrome–plated and engraved metal parts; hooks, nuts, coordinator rods, tuners, resonator hardware, and truss rod cover screws are gold-plated
  • Abalone details: Purfling along the neck, resonator, and heel, plus an abalone truss rod cover
  • Bridge: Believed to be the original Stelling bridge
  • Case: Original hard shell case (non-TKL)
  • Lots of other documentation, see photos

Condition

Excellent to near mint. There are no noticeable scratches, dings, or finish issues. It has been carefully maintained and sparingly played in a smoke-free environment.

Tone & Playability

This banjo delivers the unmistakable Stelling sound — powerful, clear, loud, and well-balanced across all strings. It’s one of the best-sounding Stellings I’ve owned or played, and a fine example of the company’s craftsmanship during this era.
