The quartersawn mahogany neck features a slender “D” profile and a smooth, radiused AAA-grade ebony fingerboard, providing exceptional comfort and control for intricate picking. John Hartford-inspired pearloid fingerboard inlays, the custom “Julia Belle” peghead inlay, and Alison Brown signature inlay on the rear of the peghead give the instrument a distinctive visual identity.
At the heart of the Julia Belle is Deering’s -06- 20-hole Bell Bronze tone ring, paired with an 11" 3-ply violin-grade maple rim. This combination produces a rich, balanced voice with warm, resonant lows, crisp highs, excellent projection, and impressive sustain. The tapered mahogany-stained resonator further enhances projection while adding depth and character to the instrument’s tone.
Performance-focused appointments include nickel-plated hardware, Deering planetary tuners with black buttons, a Deering Gotoh geared fifth-string tuner, and a Deering True Tone tailpiece for reliable tuning and stability. The 11/16" radiused Deering Smile Bridge provides smooth string response and comfortable playability, while pre-installed spikes at the 7th, 8th, 9th, and 10th frets make capoing the fifth string quick and convenient.
